Covid Update 24.02.21

2020 was a horrific year for us all.

And for anybody who has suffered or lost loved ones, you have been especially affected and our sincere thoughts are with you.

Then the carnage of closures and openings and lots of jobs being lost, it's created worry and uncertainty for many - in fact, I don't think there is anybody that hasn't been affected to some degree, it really is unprecedented.

So, pleased to see the back of 2020 and get into 2021 where there's at least some light at the end of the seemingly endless tunnel.

Following the announcement of the roadmap out of lockdown,  we have decided to aim for a reopening date of 17th May.

Again, we thank you so much for your support over the years.

Let’s see what 2021 brings and come back with a bang!

Stay safe and well.

The Punchbowl with its characterful accommodation is the ideal place to stay whether for its own interesting history, to see Blenheim Palace, or to visit Churchill's grave in the nearby village of Bladon. Oxford City with its colleges, museums and dreaming spires is within easy access by car or the convenient and regular bus service.
Woodstock is a town steeped in history and is situated just to the north of Oxford. It began as a coach stop around the Royal hunting lodge, which later became the site of Blenheim Palace, stately home of the Dukes of Marlborough since the early 1700's.
The town has an active local business community and makes provision for most everyday needs of visitors without having to venture too far: Post Office, bank, supermarket, newsagent, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and a wide range of shops are all situated in the town centre. There are lots of local folk with boundless character, all forming the bustling community which we are
sure you will enjoy experiencing during your visit.

We are proud to serve hand crafted ales from 2 local breweries, each with a great heritage.

Arkell's brewery was established in Swindon in 1843 to keep the great men who built the world famous Great Western Railway watered.

In excess of 170 years later, the brewery is still going strong today.

We also feature the occasional guest ale from the Donnington brewery, based in the heart of the Cotswolds at Stow on the Wold.

Alongside our fantastic craft beers, we serve a great selection of lagers, ciders and stouts as well as an array of quality wines, spirits and soft drinks.

You can always get a great coffee here too. Freshly ground beans for every cup - made just how you like it - Cappuccino, Latte, Americano, Espresso. You choose. Why not treat yourself to a cake, muffin or some biscuits too.

Where you like, when you like

There are so many funky gastro pubs aren't there?

So we decided to be different.....

Our new concept brings together the things that we love to eat - uncomplicated food at prices that won't break the bank. Pizza's (home proved dough, hand stretched and generously topped), Burgers and some pub classics too. Nibbly starters, topped garlic breads and some lovely puddings along with a kids menu that your little ones will be excited to choose from too. Something for everyone. Eat in or take away, the choice is yours. We can even deliver a pizza to your room.
